It’s great that you’ve decided to study Japanese! By learning another language, you are opening yourself up to new experiences.

You’re broadening your horizons and learning how to communicate with people in new ways. It is true at the same time that not all languages are equally easy to learn. You should be able to find Anime, which are fast-paced animated Japanese movies and shows. This form of entertainment is now available all over the English-speaking world, either dubbed or in Japanese with subtitles in English. If you want to find Anime, you can either visit the nearest video rental store or do a web search and you’ll find a wide selection. Be sure to choose the option that plays it in Japanese and follow the subtitles. By simply watching and listening, you will develop a vocabulary and discover how phrases are used. You may even forget that you are studying a language you’ll be having so much fun! There are quite a few good Anime programs available, including Fullmetal Alchemist, Trigun and Cowboy Bebop. Learn the basic alphabet. It’s more important to become familiar with the characters and how they sound than to be concerned with proper spelling at this stage. Even if you aren’t perfect, you can then write down the phonetic equivalent of any phrases you are trying to speak. You will find this helpful when traveling or when speaking to anyone in Japanese before you are really comfortable with the language. By doing this, you will be learning how to read in the new language as well as being able to communicate by writing things down phonetically.

Be sure to read out loud. Learning a language almost always depends on being able to hear the way it flows and being able to properly repeat that sound. The language that you are trying to learn has its own unique rhythm; you will have to grasp this rhythm and you do it by hearing your own voice talk speak the language. Read store signs and product labels out loud. Read your Japanese textbooks out loud. The more you read out loud the better your pronunciation will be and the better your new language will flow when it is time to put it to use!

These are just a few hints that you can use to help you better learn Japanese. Becoming fluent in a new language can be intimidating and at times hard but if you use these simple tricks and tips you can learn the language in no time flat. All you have to do is believe in yourself; everything you need is available to you. Your goal is not as far away as you think.
